Press and Media coverage
We have already attracted a lot of media interest, with tremendous
support from the journalists involved.
It all started in our local paper, the Cornish Guardian, who broke
the story on their front page. Then Alec Robertson, Leader of Cornwall
Council, was asked directly on BBC Radio Cornwall on Thursday 22
October about the future of St.Tudy and St.Mabyn schools. He stated
categorically that “there are no plans to close or merge any
school in Cornwall”. This was a clear media gaffe as plans
were already in the public domain and a full-scale feasibility study
underway.
Pirate FM picked up on this and asked for clarification which was
not forthcoming. They broke the story on the following Tuesday in
each of their news bulletins throughout the day, with an in-depth
report on their main drive-time 18:00hr news programme.
The Cornish Guardian have followed the story with great interest,
giving two front-page stories to date as well as publishing other
articles and letters.
